But who are the best wonderkid centre backs in FM26? We’ve simulated 10 seasons into the future to show you which centre backs can become the best in the world, so you know who to sign early on in your save.

We’ve also done the same to find you the best FM26 wonderkid strikers.

What’s a Wonderkid CB in FM26?

The centre backs we’ve listed are no older than 20 at the start of your save, so they have plenty of room to develop and reach the elite level in the future. We’ve chosen wonderkid centre backs who in their prime have the fundamental attributes youโ€™d want in a top modern defender, such as tackling, heading, pace, and passing.

10. Willy Kambwala

Willy Kambwala in FM26

Kambwala came through the Manchester United youth academy, and did impress in the few appearances he made for the club. However, with FFP becoming more prominent in recent years, United saw the opportunity to sell a player on the fringes for pure profit.

This could end up being a masterstroke for Kambwala, as he’s a wonderkid centre back with great potential, and regular first team football will help him reach that.

In his prime, Kambwala is one of the best physical CBs in FM26. He has a ridiculous 18 pace, so he has no issues keeping up with quick opposition attackers.

He’s also really versatile, being able to comfortably play at left back, and can fill in at right back too. His mental attributes could do with some improvement, and he’s not great on the ball, but he’s the type of centre back who dominates duels and thrives in a high defensive line.

9. Jon Martin in FM26

Jon Martin in FM26

Martin is a Spanish wonderkid centre back with excellent heading ability. He can also put in a strong tackle.

Jon Martin definitely has room to grow though. He isn’t the quickest of centre backs, and could work on his first touch if he’s to be successful in a team that likes to keep possession.

In season one he doesn’t seem to be interested in leaving Real Sociedad, but add him to your shortlist and see how he develops in your save.

In his prime you can see Jon Martin has made a lot of improvements. His pace has increased from 12 to 15, and his concentration from 14 to 17.

Martin is a very solid wonderkid CB in FM26 you should try to sign if he becomes available for a good price.

7. Luka Vuskovic

Luka Vuskovic in FM26

Vuskovic was always going to be on the list of the best FM26 wonderkid CBs. He was immense for Tottenham in pre-season, and has been loaned out to Hamburg to get regular first team football.

He has the attributes to make it to the top. 17 determination and 16 work rate are exactly what you want in a wonderkid, and his defensive attributes for an 18 year old are really solid.

Luka Vuskovic in 2035

Luka Vuskovic in 2035

You can see that Vuskovic turns into a fantastic centre back! His physical attributes are much better, and his mental attributes are all rated 12 or higher.

You should definitely add Vuskovic to your shortlist and monitor his development because if he returns to Spurs in season 2 and doesn’t get much game time, he might seek a move.

The reason Vuskovic isn’t higher is his technical attributes. They’re great, but not as good as those further down on this list.

6. Matteo Palma

Matteo Palma in FM26

Palma is a young German centre back with lots to work with at just 17 years old. His physical attributes alongside being 6ft 4 mean he’s ready to play first team football already.

Matteo Palma wants to continue his development at Udinese for now, but as he gets older I’m sure he’ll want to make the step up to a bigger club.

In our FM26 simulation, this wonderkid centre back took the money and went to play in Saudi Arabia for almost ยฃ900k per week!

He’s very comfortable as a right back too, and definitely has the physical attributes to play there. A really dominant centre back who wins everything in the air and provides real stability at the back, even against top-class opposition.

5. Giovanni Leoni

Giovanni Leoni in FM26

For an 18 year old wonderkid centre back, Leoni has some fantastic attributes in season one. His 14 heading, marking, and anticipation, combined with good strength and positioning, make him an ideal signing for a long-term rebuild. Unfortunately in real life he’s had to undergo surgery after tearing his ACL, and will be out for the rest of the season.

Leoni joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025, so you’ll need to wait at least a season before trying to sign him.

Giovanni Leoni in 2035

Giovanni Leoni in 2035

In our FM26 simulation Giovanni Leoni has stayed at Liverpool and become a stalwart in their side. He’s a physical monster, and also has some fantastic mental attributes including 18 anticipation and 17 concentration.

The only reason Leoni isn’t higher on this list of the best wonderkid centre backs in FM26 is because his passing, tackling, and vision are good but not great.

4. El Chadaille Bitshiabu

El Chadaille Bitshiabu in FM26

El Chadaille Bitshiabu is already an outstanding wonderkid CB. His best attributes are 16 strength and jumping reach, which paired with 13 heading and being 6ft 5 make him extremely dominant in the air. He’s a left footed centre back, and also has the ability to play left back competently.

Bitshiabu has only just signed a new contract with Leipzig, so he can’t be signed in the first season.

El Chadaille Bitshiabu in 2035

El Chadaille Bitshiabu in 2035

No one has managed to poach El Chadaille Bitshiabu from RB Leipzig, and he’s developed into a fantastic centre back. In his prime, Bitshiabu is a ball-playing defender, who has excellent concentration and anticipation.

If you like tall CBs who can also play with the ball, El Chadaille Bitshiabu isย  your guy.

3. Pau Cubarsi

Pau Cubarsi in FM26

Pau Cubarsi is a wonderkid centre back following in the footsteps of many other La Masia graduates. He’s a starting centre back from Barcelona at just 18 years old!

Even at this age, his mental attributes are ridiculous. 16 anticipation, composure, concentration, and determination as a teenager is amazing to see. He’s also a model citizen, which is the best personality for a player to have in the game.

He’s not looking to leave Barcelona any time soon, and he will be very hard to sign at any point of your save.

Pau Cubarsi in 2035

Pau Cubarsi in 2035

I’m not shocked that in our FM26 simulation Cubarsi is still at Barcelona, and he’s even better in his prime. He’s one of the best wonderkid CBs on the ball, with brilliant passing, vision, and first touch.

If you’re being picky, Pau Cubarsi could be a little bit better in the physical department, which is why he isn’t the best FM25 wonderkid centre back.

2. Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro in FM26

In what was a terrible 24/25 season for Manchester United, Leny Yoro was one of the very few positives. He’s been a real coup for the club, as he was also linked with a move to Real Madrid.

At 19 years old, Yoro is already good enough to play for lots of top teams in the world. His physical attributes are strong, with his tackling and marking needing a little bit of improvement to make him one of the best centre backs in the game. He’s definitely one of the best wonderkid centre backs in FM26 in terms of starting attributes.

He’s not interested in leaving Manchester United in the first transfer window. However, if they have a poor first season, he may want to move to a club with Champions League football.

Leny Yoro in 2035

Leny Yoro in 2035

In his prime, Yoro is a world class centre back. 5 out of 7 of his physical attributes are 16 or higher, and his mental attributes have also significantly improved.

On the ball, his passing is 15, technique is 16, and vision is 15, so he’s capable of stepping up and breaking lines when in possession.

He’s probably gonna be quite hard to get a hold off unless you’re managing a top team, but you have to sign this wonderkid centre back if you get the chance.

1. Dean Huijsen – Best FM26 Wonderkid CB

Dean Huijsen in FM26

After an unbelievable breakout season with Bournemouth, Dean Huijsen has had a huge upgrade in terms of attributes compared to FM24.

He’s fantastic in the air with 17 jumping reach, 15 heading, and being 6ft 5. He also has the trait to bring the ball out of the defence, which makes great use of his high passing and vision attributes when playing out from the back.

After just signing for Real Madrid, Huijsen won’t be looking to leave the club anytime soon.

Dean Huijsen in 2035

Dean Huijsen in 2035

You can see by looking at Dean Huijsen’s attributes 10 seasons into our save, it’s clear he’s the best wonderkid centre back in FM26.

He’s extremely well rounded in all of the key areas you want from a modern centre back centre back. He can tackle, read the game, pass the ball, win headers, and he’s quick!

If you have the money and he’s looking to move on from Real Madrid, do anything you can to sign Huijsen!

Final Thoughts

There we have it. The best wonderkid CBs in FM26 you should be targeting in your long-term saves. The top 3 do standout above the rest, but will be extremely hard to get a hold of.

If you’re looking for a wonderkid centre back to sign in season one, then consider Noahkai Banks. He is ready for more first team football and can develop into a star.
